Software in the Library
The following is a list of the software available on the Library's desktop computers and
on the Web. The Library has separate pages explaining bibliographic
management tools and PDA tools. SAS is available on PCs in the
Computer Lab, is a comprehensive commercial statistical program used for data management
and statistical analyses.
Microsoft Office, 2007 and 2004. All Macintosh computers are equipped with
Version 10 of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
OmniPage Professional - scanning software which can convert images into text using optical character recognition technology (OCR) is available in the Computer Room
Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, and Safari are available on select
computers.
SciFinder Scholar is a chemical information retrieval tool, which
searches CAplus (references from Chemical Abstracts, 1907-present) and MEDLINE as well as
chemical structure, reaction, directory and regulatory databases. SciFinder Scholar is
available via three methods:
- As a
service over the web. First-time users must first
register.
- On select Library computers.
- As a program that can be downloaded from the ITS support site
(Windows and Mac). Please note: structure & reaction
searching not yet enabled for Mac users.
