Dr. Wilson will present a narrative history with photographs of the department of psychiatry, from its origins in 1791 at the first New York Hospital to the present day.
Dr. Peter G. Wilson is Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Attending Psychiatrist. He has spent his entire career of over 50 years at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center.
The Heberden Society, which seeks to promote an interest in the history of medicine, was founded at the medical center in 1975. With funding from the WCMC Office of the Dean, the society sponsors a series of lectures during each academic year.
