Library Access
Alumni of Weill Cornell Medical College and the Graduate School of Medical Sciences may access the Samuel J. Wood Library with a Library dip card. This barcoded card provides entry through the Library gates and allows you to borrow library materials. A dip card is not required to access free and select online library resources.
Alumni Privileges:
- Physical access during Library hours
- Borrowing books and in-house library equipment
- Access to the Medical Center Archives (by appointment only)
- Printing & Photocopying
- On-Site access to all Library e-resources and a selected list of off-campus resources
- Walk-in Reference Services
Privileges do not include, but are not limited to:
- Bringing guests into the Library
- Laptop borrowing
- Interlibrary Loan Services
- TripSaver Requests
- Off-Site Access to E-Resources
- Access to affiliated institutions
To access the Library and receive a dip card you must:
1. Request a letter of verification from the Office of Alumni Relations or call 646-962-9560.
2. Visit the Library with your letter of verification and a valid photo ID
3. A dip card will be issued to you with your name and renewal date printed on it
Please note: Dip cards are valid for one year and must be renewed in person on or before the date printed on the card.
Alumni and all patrons of the Library must adhere to the Rules for User Conduct.
Electronic Resources
Available to alumni are free/Open Access e-Resources, and a selected list of subscribed/paid e-Resources from the library. All other licensed resources are only available on the New York Weill Cornell Medical Center network.
