Academic publishing is a tortuous but necessary part of the research lifecycle. Thankfully, the LibMAPS team can guide you through the entire publishing process, helping you choose the best venue for your work, maximize impact, minimize costs, and retain your rights as an author. Pre-Publishing

Manuscript Preparation/Pre-Acceptance

  • Provide light editing, including:
    • Correct spelling, word usage, grammar, and punctuation
    • Cross-check text with tables and figures for correct association
    • Suggest textual changes for clarity and concision
    • Ensure style consistency
  • Recommend MeSH terms and keywords for article
  • Support use of bibliographic software such as EndNote or RefWorks
  • Assist with copyright questions and recommend publication agreement amendments to retain full or partial copyright
  • Run manuscripts through TurnItIn plagiarism detection software
  • Ensure journal instructions and policies for authors are met
