Pre-Publishing
- Suggest journals relevant to areas of research/interest for possible submission
- Check journal impact factors, indexing, and journal policies
- Explore alternate publishing models including open access journals and sharing publications via eCommons, Cornell's Institutional Repository
- Review and summarize publication agreements for potential journals
Manuscript Preparation/Pre-Acceptance
- Provide light editing, including:
- Correct spelling, word usage, grammar, and punctuation
- Cross-check text with tables and figures for correct association
- Suggest textual changes for clarity and concision
- Ensure style consistency
- Recommend MeSH terms and keywords for article
- Support use of bibliographic software such as EndNote or RefWorks
- Assist with copyright questions and recommend publication agreement amendments to retain full or partial copyright
- Run manuscripts through TurnItIn plagiarism detection software
- Ensure journal instructions and policies for authors are met
Post-Acceptance/Published
- Efficiently and accurately address reviewer comments
- Assist with complying with the NIH Public Access Policy the NIH Datamanagement and Sharing Policy
- Support integration of data into WIDRR to comply with the Cornell Data Retention Policy
- Facilitate deposition of manuscript into eCommons
- Set up citation alerts so you know who is citing your work
