The Heimlich maneuver is credited with saving the lives of these and many others since its invention by Dr. Henry Heimlich in 1974. Although he is best known for the anti-choking maneuver that became synonymous with his name, Dr. Heimlich created many medical procedures and devices throughout the course of his career.
