The personal papers of Dr. David D. Thompson, physician, researcher, and former Director of the New York Hospital (now NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital) from 1967-1987, have recently been processed and are open for research. The collection includes Thompson's research notebooks, 1950-1964, speeches, 1969-1973, reprints, 1959, 1961, 1971-1976, and an electrocardiogram lecture by Thompson, undated. Included are nearly ten document boxes of research notebooks, comprising the majority of the collection. The notebooks document Thompson's research, primarily related to the kidneys and kidney disease, just after he completed his residency at New York Hospital and including the period he was at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Many of the notebooks record Thompson's experiments. Also included are three folders of reprints, speeches, and a lecture by Thompson on the electrocardiogram.
This collection is arranged in two series:
Series I: Research notebooks, 1950-1964
Series II: Lecture, reprints, and speeches, 1959-1976
