Welcome back, Weill Cornell alumni!
The staff and resources of the Samuel J. Wood Library at Weill Cornell Medicine are available to you to support your research, learning, and practice.
Alumni of Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) and the Graduate School of Medical Sciences (WCGSMS) are eligible for borrowing privileges at the Samuel J. Wood library.
To access the Library, medical college alumni must present their alumni card and sign in at the Library's SMARTDesk. Alumni cards are available through the Office of Alumni Relations: (646) 962-9560. Alumni cards will also allow you to register for borrowing privileges. Once you have completed the registration process, a separate library card will be issued to you. This library card must be presented each time you wish to borrow library material. If you plan to visit the Library frequently, you may want to request a "dip" card that will allow you to enter the gate at the Library's entrance.
Alumni of the Weill Cornell Graduate School must present a letter of verification from the Office of Alumni Relations (email: shm2056@med.cornell.edu or call: 646-962-9546) to the staff at the Library's SmartDesk. A separate library card will be issued to eligible alumni at that time. This card must then be presented to library staff each time you enter the Library and at the Library's SmartDesk each time you wish to borrow library material. If you plan to visit the Library frequently, you may want to request a "dip" card that will allow you to enter the gate at the Library's entrance.
Alumni of the Medical College and Graduate School can also utilize the historical collections held in the Medical Center Archives, dating back to 1771. Visit https://library.weill.cornell.edu/archives to learn more about the collections and how to use them for your research.
Please note that alumni privileges do not include Interlibrary Services, TripSaver Requests, off-site access to most licensed electronic resources, or access to any of our affiliated institutions. For further details regarding alumni resource access policies, click here.
While off-site access to most licensed electronic resources is unavailable, access to free eResources, OpenAccess, and a selected list of subscribed/paid electronic resources are available to Alumni via the Library's Electronic Resources page. All other licensed resources are only available on the New York Weill Cornell Medical Center network while visiting on campus.
Please consult the LibGuide on Alumni and Retirees Resources & Services to see what resources are available to alumni at home.
