Best Practices

Do:

• Use AI to meet word limits, generate abstracts, clarify grammar and language, adjust for reading level 

• Acknowledge use of AI in the manuscript. Include:

• What tools were used
• What was done using the tools
• If possible, include original pre-AI manuscript as supplemental material
• Anything else required by your specific journal
• Examples:
• Elsevier
• Nature
• Wiley

Don't:

• Use AI to generate wholesale text or reference lists

• Blindly accept suggestions/changes without checking and rewriting in your own language/style

• List the AI as an author
